Why Winter Waxing Improves Your Summer Look

Why Winter Waxing Improves Your Summer Look

Winter is a good time for a good many things - skiing, reading by the fire, stews. It is also, as it turns out, a fabulous time to get on top of your depilatory goals.  You might think that you don’t have depilatory goals, but most of us do.  And when summer comes then we all want to be smooth and hairless in various places that don’t see the light of day in a Tasmanian winter.  Depilatory goals are your hair removal goals, and waxing in winter is a fantastic strategy to get ready for summer.

For you to get the maximum out of your waxing sessions you will want your hairs to all be about ½ cm or longer.  This allows the wax to grip the hairs properly, allowing those hairs to be pulled out at the root.

The fantastic thing about pulling hairs out by the root like this is that it disrupts their growth cycle and each time you pull all those hairs out, some of them will never grow back.  Just ask someone who over plucked their eyebrows in the 90s.  Everytime you wax, some of those leg hairs are gone FOREVER.  And the hairs that do grow back tend to grow back slower, softer and lighter.  So over time you will become initially less hairy and eventually hairless.

BUT - in summer our desire to look hairless all the time can sabotage our waxing efforts.  We don’t really want to wait until our hairs are half a centimeter long and so we wax too early and it’s not effective.

But in winter we do not feel pressured to be perfectly hairless, so we can let our hair grow and have our regularly spaced 4 -5 weekly appointments, and if we do this, by the time summer comes there will be less hair to battle.
